April Newsletter No. 2


We hope you had a pleasant “Easter” break. With the departure of ROK building contractors school should now return to normal! During the next few weeks we hope that the roof will be completed and the churned field returned to its normal state.

Friday 11 July: Class 4 concert . Roald Dahl’s ’The Three Little Pigs’, 1.30 pm
Friday 18 July: Our Sports Day, 1.30 pm



Sports Relief
Our walking / running laps around the Playground raised a total of £99.40 for Sports Relief. Thank you for your support

Strike Action
You will have heard in the press that the N. U. T. (one of the Teachers’ Unions) is holding a one day strike on Thursday 24 April.
On this occasion our school will not be affected by this action — letter to follow from Mrs Green.

Class Topics
This term we are learning about:
Class 1: Growth, Transport, The Local Environment
Class 2: Growing Plants, Passport to the World
(including local environment), Famous People
Class 3: Helping Plants to Grow Well, Developing the School Environment
Class 4: India, Moving and Growing, Habitats
Please note that although the topics titles may vary, individual year groups will be covering the same
National Curriculum objectives and skills regardless of the class they are in.

FA Cup
Miss Symons has arranged a football tournament for Years 3 and 4 on Thursday (24 April). Trident Soccer will be running this. The children should wear football kit / tracksuits to school. They will need to bring school uniform to change into as our field is muddy.

Class 4
Class 4 recently took part in a local poster Competition for Supersports. As a thank you for their efforts they have all been awarded a voucher for a free swim at The Swan Leisure Centre.


Toys
There have recently been several minor disputes about ownership of toys. The children are not permitted to bring toys or mobile phones to school.

Packed Lunches
The Healthy Schools team have asked us to distribute healthy packed lunch leaflets.
Children who have packed lunches will be bringing a copy home.

Clubs
Gym Club (Mrs Green) restarts Monday 21April.
Photography Club (Mrs Beels / Mrs Allan) starts this week 21 April.
Tri Golf - Miss Symons plans to run her summer term golfing club for Year 4 children. Letter to follow.
Penny Whistle (Mrs Humphries / Mrs Currans) and lunchtime Football (Trident Soccer) will continue this term.
