Policies and Planning
At Wooler First School a great deal of work goes on behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
This section of the website allows you to have a look at two major areas of “behind the scenes” activities: Policies and Planning.
Policies
Policies are written codes of agreed practice within the school. There are many of them and they cover a wide range of issues. We hope to include as many of our major policies as possible on the website. This, of course will take time but to view those we have done so far just click on the appropriate icon.
If you want copies of policies that are not yet on the site then just contact us and we will be happy to provide them for you.
Planning
Each year the headteacher and governors of the school plan how they are going to move the school forward. This is called the School Development Plan (sometimes referred to as the School Improvement Plan). The headteacher must report to each meeting of the governing body progress on the plan.
When Ofsted inspects the school (every 6 years) the inspectors will scrutinise the SDP in detail. After the inspection Ofsted will make modifications to the SDP in the light of their findings about the school. This is called the post Ofsted Action Plan. This then becomes the start of a new School Development Planning cycle. The school also has an annual self-evaluation cycle which helps us to complete the OFSTED self evaluation form, (SEF).
If you click on the Planning icon you will be able to see the school’s current School Development Plan.
